Helena O’Connor is an Australian science fiction, fantasy, and horror writer whose work tends towards bittersweet, dystopian themes with a dash of hope. Previously an academic in neuroscience research, her writing explores identity, relationships, philosophy, and ethics, particularly with regard to advancing technologies. She also likes video games, coffee, and cats.
Helena has published short stories in highly regarded anthologies and literary magazines, such as Abyss & Apex, Andromeda Spaceways, Aurealis, Kaleidotrope, and Nature Futures, and her debut horror novella, Willow Close, was released in 2025 from IFWG publishing.
